Friends of Jacksonville Animals invite you to Strings Sports Brewery to watch the Jaguars take on the Eagles on October 2 from 1-4pm. We will have an autographed helmet by Head Coach Doug Pederson raffled off. Each raffle ticket is $10 (cash or credit). DONOR SPOTLIGHT - JIM

FOJA recently received a generous donation from Jim - one of the amazing staff members at Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS).  Jim can tell you the name of almost every dog at ACPS and treats them like his own. We are so grateful for his generosity especially this year which has been one of our most challenging. So far this year, FOJA has spent $102,000 for heartworm medicine and treatments for the shelter dogs.

FOJA has several fundraising events scheduled for this fall (finally!), but we still need and depend on individual donations.

Jim is hoping that his fellow ACPS staff members and Team FOJA (that includes YOU!) will follow his lead and also make a donation. No amount is too small and your donation will help us meet our pledge of always saying YES when our help is requested for necessary medical treatment of the shelter animals. #BeLikeJim #FundFOJA

ROAD TRIP! LET ACPS BRING PETS TO YOU!

Do you own a business? Work for a business that allows community events to be held on its property? Are you in a part of the city where you'd been hoping ACPS would bring adoptable pets?

You may be surprised to learn that you can help the shelter by hosting an adoption event! All they need is an indoor space to set up 10-15 crates or a large parking lot that will accommodate an RV and additional space for adopters to park.

If you can help bring adoptable pets to your neighborhood, or just want to learn more, shoot an email to MGrauvogl@coj.net with “Event location” in the subject line. ACPS would love to hear from you!

THE SHELTER IS FULL AND NEEDS HELP

ACPS is once again asking for the help of our animal loving community. Big help is needed with big (and medium) dogs. ACPS is currently caring for over 300 dogs in the shelter with dozens of dogs living in overflow housing. They desperately need help to place medium and large dogs into adoptive or foster homes ASAP.

If you are able to foster or adopt, please stop by 2020 Forest Street. If you have other dogs at home, no problem! Many of their dogs have experience in doggie playgroups and would love a playmate. You can view all of the available dogs online at coj.net/adopt.

Ways you can help:
ADOPT
Adoptions are free for medium & large dogs.
FOSTER
Even if you can only foster for a few days, it helps!
RECLAIM
If you have lost your pet or it you have surrendered your pet to ACPS in the last 90 days and they are still there, please come to the shelter to reclaim if you are now in a position to take them back. Sterilized reclaim fees are waived.
REUNITE
If you have found a lost pet, please look for its home. More than 65% of dogs entering our shelter are lost pets. Dogs found and kept in their neighborhood are 85% more likely to get home and most are reunited within 24 hours of being found. After entering the shelter only about 20% are reunited with their owners. Please utilize the shelter only as a last option. Visit FOJA's website for rehoming tips
