FOJA DONOR HONORS ACPS VOLUNTEER ELIZABETH ROGAN

When a donation came through from Christy Vickery we were super excited because she made it in honor of ACPS volunteer Elizabeth Rogan.  Christy's work had a volunteer of the year contest, and she nominated Elizabeth and she won! Elizabeth has volunteered with ACPS helping out in the vet's office and has been very active with the annual Secret Santa drive to support our shelter animals.  Congratulations Elizabeth!
CONGRATULATIONS ELIZABETH!

Do you know someone you want to honor?
It's easy! Use the buttons above to make a donation and simply add a comment letting us know who you are honoring! We'll mention your honoree in a future newsletter.

S T O R Y:  S E L E N A

Selena is a sweet 11-week old kitten that arrived at the shelter in what seemed to be good health. However, during spay surgery, the vet at ACPS noticed that the right kidney could not be seen and that the left kidney was enlarged. FOJA approved an ultrasound to confirm her diagnosis. The ultrasound revealed that her left kidney is a bit enlarged for her size due to “work hypertrophy” as it is compensating for a missing right kidney. Selena was with one of our amazing fosters until she got adopted. She should be able to live a long, happy life but is at higher risk for developing chronic kidney disease later in life. But knowing this so early in her life gives her adopter a much better chance to catch it early.

Donations to FOJA allowed us to cover Selena's medical care to prepare her for adoption. She is living happy and healthy thanks to the public’s support of FOJA.

Dogs Treated for Heartworm
with help from donors like you

HEART DOG SPOTLIGHT: TOBY

Toby is a 6 year old Corgi-mix that came to ACPS as a stray in May and unfortunately tested heartworm positive.  In addition to having heartworms, he also has some arthritis.  But none of this stopped his wonderful fur-mom Andrea Ross from adopting him - it was love at first sight when she saw a picture of him shared on Facebook.  She also has another “low rider” Corgi and was ready to add to her pack.  Thanks to your donations to FOJA, Toby is now getting the much need heartworm treatment at one of our treatment veterinarian partners and is being totally spoiled at home while undergoing the treatment. Toby is counting the days when he can run and play with his fur-siblings without having to worry about those nasty heartworms.  Thank you as always to Team FOJA for helping to create these happy endings for our shelter dogs.
